Heavy Metal Pirates
Alestorm is a metal band that takes metal to a whole new level. With all of their songs based around pirates... well, you can see where this is going.
A band worth listening to just for the amazing songs, and pirate talk.
What do you think? Pirate Metal? Next thing you know their will be ninja metal!

Metal Interpretations
Some people are insane. This guy is one of them. If you like some of the Metal gods then this is for you.
I don't know what is more scary. The fact that I can actually hear what these people are talking about in their interpretations or the fact that the people sound like this.
Also, this is my 199th post. The 200th will be worth it. Trust me. I'll think of something cool.
Hope you enjoy these as much as I do. Why did noone tell me about these years ago!

My Other Site
Hey, just pointing out that I have another site as well as this one. http://welcometocebris.blogspot.com/. I'm still working on the sites layout (the ratings are becoming a headache), but you can head on over and check it out.
It's a writing blog that takes place in a far away galaxy and has a 6 movie series called Bar Whores (or something like that anyway).
I'm looking for some advice to make the site easier to use and to improve it's looks. Any suggestions you have are welcome. Check it out.
Also, I found this picture very odd. This is not your normal metal band. Where is the crazy makeup? The slit wrists? The suicide? Anyway, Six Feet of Silence, a pretty good band. You should check them out too.

Just to Keep You Company
Their is something about Arch Enemy that requires this be here.
Lol Wat? Anyway...
Some people just have never heard of sunscreen
Those Russians. I wish I was that cool.
How people don't die at Lamb of God
Contrary to popular belief Cliff Burton is not dead. Jesus needed bass playing lessons. 100% bass here. That's right, you guitar players. This guy can outpick you without a pick. U Jelly?
I wish someone would tab this song out. I really want to learn to play it and tabbing it myself is way beyond me.
WTF? Whoever made this vidja is a genius! CHARGE!
Not the song I was looking for but it will work.
Some people just shouldn't be told their hair is purple.
Watch, and you will understand.
Into Eternity...
I had something important I was going to put here. Now I have no idea. Hmmm... This is just going to sit here I guess.
This Will have to do:
George Kollias. AKA: Best drummer ever. Not even Chuck Norris raptor Jesus bear mudkip can play this.
Enjoy that. I might have my PSU by the end of the week. If so, I'll try to play catch up over the weekend.
Their will still be a Wallpaper Wednesday tomorrow, but don't expect much. If you really want wallpaper look at last weeks.
Have fun, this week. Also, suggest any music you like. I am looking for diversity.
If you are looking for some more music check out The Nite Falls. Into Eternity is pretty good.
Have a rockin' Tuesday.

The Evolution of Metallica
I would like to take a minute and explore the evolution of Metallica. A band that has played pretty much every form of music involving a guitar. We will be looking at one song from each of their released albums (including two of their live shows). Listen to them and you will see the changes happen.
I tried to pick a relatively popular song from each album.
Hit The Lights - Kill 'Em All
For Whom The Bell Toll's - Ride the Lightning
Master Of Puppets - Master Of Puppets
One - ...And Justice For All
Enter Sandman - Black Album
Mama Said - Load
Fuel - ReLoad
(Gimme Fue, Gimme Fi, Gimmedabujabaza!)
Turn The Page - Garage Days
The Prince - Garage Days
Master of Puppets - S&M
Saint Anger - Saint Anger
All Nightmare Long - Death Magnetic
That is all.
Note: there are two Garage Days songs because it is a two disc album that spans from their time in the garage to the time when they wished they were back in one.
If you don't have the time to listen to all of them then listen to Hit The Lights, Mama Said and then Saint Anger or All Nightmare Long. The change is spectacular.

I was going to put some videos here but the quality is so bad that it isn't even worth it. A picture will have to do.

Songs You Should Listen To
No time for a full post right now. Here is some music that you need to hear though.
I think that's it. I didn't watch the full versions of the videos (I don't have the time, sorry). I just watched a about 15 seconds of each to make sure they weren't just Troll vids. Some of them looked weird but, whatever.
Anyway, enjoy. Also, make sure you tell me what you like so that if I ever do another one of these I can include songs you actually might like.
I also would like to say that you probably haven't heard of all of these bands. They are from all over. Sweden, Norway, America. So listen to the ones you haven't heard and maybe you'll find something you like.

Custom Apps for the Zune HD or Zune
Alright, yesterday I posted about trying to get custom apps on my Zune HD
. I was successful, well at least partially. You can find out how to run custom Zune Apps on your Zune by visiting this site: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/download-xna-applications/47143-howto-deploying-apps-zune-hd.html. The page describes how to do everything you will need to do.
Now for the setbacks:
Their is a light at the end of the tunnel however. OpenZDK was developed by some hackers over at zuneboards.com. It allows you to use 3D and avoid the problems you face when running an XNA game. I have yet to try a OpenZDK game/app yet so I can't say if they are worth it or not.
Anyway, if you want custom apps on your Zune then you know where to go. Thats right, right here.
Finally you can see a list of all the games I found here: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/download-xna-applications-207/.
Currently Zuneboards is the only site I found for these hacked games. Enjoy.
Now for the setbacks:
- Since the Zune was not designed for this and it is not Microsoft Supported you risk getting a virus.
- You need to download over 200 megabyets of software.
- Their still are not that many games out there (only a hundred or so, I didn't count)
- When you close an XNA game or app on your Zune it will restart. Like turning it off and turning it on again. This means you lose the songs you were listening to.
- XNA games lack the ability to run 3D. Even though the Zune fully supports 3D images.

App's For Zune HD
If you have ever thought of buying a Zune HD you know that the lack of apps is a turn off. I am currently in the process of finding a way to add custom apps to the Zune HD. I will post if I succeed soon.

Why is Metallica so Popular
Metallica, a California rock band, is popular for a single reason: adaption. One only needs to listen to their first album Kill 'em All
and then compare it to their newer Saint Anger
or Re-Load to see what has changed. The band has staid with the times, adapting their music to fit the people that are listening. Metallica has changed styles multiple times over the years and each change has brought them out on top.
With every album Metallica produced their style has been distinctly different (even playing some old school songs like Turn the Page
This change in style is what has made the band so famous simply because they have played almost every type of rock that has been popular in the last 30 years. This has allowed them to reach a large audience that similar bands like Testament
This makes Metallica one of the more famous, though not the best, metal band of all time.

Make Money Reviewing Music
I have recently found a new site. The site is called Slice The Pie and is a site that pays you to review songs. These songs are independently created by artists and submitted to the site. You earn money based on the quality of reviews you write. At the beginning you earn only about 2 cents a song making it hardly worth the time. However, this amount increases over time to a maximum of 20 cents a song making this slightly worth it and, if your going to listen to music anyway, you might as well get paid for it.
This seems like a good idea doesn't it? Money for listening to music, seems legit to.

The Zune HD
The Zune HD is a remarkable MP3 player. It is easy to use and powerful.
I recently purchased a 32gb version and am very pleased with the purchase. Here is a quick review of the Zune. You can find more in depth reviews on Amazon.
Pros:

I recently purchased a 32gb version and am very pleased with the purchase. Here is a quick review of the Zune. You can find more in depth reviews on Amazon.
Pros:
- The Zune has a powerful multitouch screen that allows you to pinch and zoom, scroll and slide all you want. Very easily.
- The Zune Pass. For those people that like their music and don't want to pirate it the Zune pass gives you access to the entire library of music availible from the Zune Marketplace for a month. At the end of every month you are able to keep 10 songs (DRM free) as your own. This is great for people that are exploring new styles or music!
- Powerful Apps. While the Zune has very, very few apps (see Cons) the Zune does possess some powerful apps for you to use. Unique to the Zune is Audiosurf, perhaps the best game ever, that allows you to play along with any song you choose. What better game for a MP3 Player?
- All Apps are Free. I shouldn't need to say any more about this. Every app you get for the Zune will be free to download and use.
- It's now made by Apple. For a lot of PC nuts this is a big plus. The Zune is a Microsoft product and thus is a little harder to get used to then the Ipod but is far nicer once you take off the training wheels.
- The Interface of the Zune is easy to understand and has a lot of bells and whistles to it. When listening to songs a picture of the artist will be used as the background. Tapping the artist name will select the artist and bring up multiple options (Albums, Pics, Bio etc) that you may select. Unlike the IPod the Zune is not a tabular interface. The menu is not just a bunch of buttons one after another instead you browse a selection of items and then zoom in to a specific one with a tap.
- Apps for the Zune are extremly limited. You are restricted to only the apps that Microsoft has allowed companies to make. While this means that the apps you get are better quality and that they will all work, it also means that their is a sever limit to the number of apps that you can choose from.
- The Zune HD is expensive. I bought a 32gb HD for $200. This is a steep price to pay if you are buying an MP3 player. The price is, however, slightly lower then that of the IPod touches.

[Album Review] Serj Tankian - Imperfect Harmonies
Those of you who enjoy System of a Down's (SoaD) may be disappointed at the ex-bands lead man and his new style. For others though this album is a great listen. It possess plenty of electric sections that are powerful and at the same time really cool. While the SoaD style is long gone the new style of Serj is not all that bad. Introducing piano's, and other more melodic instruments to the mix Serj Tankian continues to produce good music.
While the genre has drastically changed a definite message can be heard in his work. Serj does an amazing job of placing himself in the music he is creating rather then producing the old "removed" style while listening to the songs you feel that Serj is telling you about something he cares about. I believe that this is an important thing for any musician and that Serj is a master of the art.
In songs such as Deserving and Peace be Revenged Serj places himself in the song and truly makes the song what it is. This is greatly assisted by the great grooves that accompany many of the songs. This album is worth every cent of it's twelve dollars. I highly recommend this album and would rate it as a great album of this year.

Buy/Listen to Imperfect Harmonies at Amazon.
