Dark Time

Looking for a new game to check out? Dark Time is a free game developed by me for the Game Jolt FEAR contest. The game is a puzzle game that uses the manipulation of a light orb (the only source of light) to complete levels.

You can get the game at Game Jolt here.

Particle Field - Zune

Do you have a Zune HD?
If you do, you may want to check out my latest App: Particle Field.

It is a very simple program that allows you to simulate thousands of color changing particles at the same time. You can control them with your fingers (it supports multitouch) and also alter the gravity by flipping your Zune. Since gravity is decided based entirly on your zunes accelerometer you can play at any angle you want!

This program is rather amusing, I personally have spent far more time playing with it than I have making it. Earlier today, I released the official version of Particle Field, some screenshots may be seen above.

I am looking for any advice that you can offer.

Also, this project is entirly Open Source. If you know some C# or want to get started. Than feel free to open this up and play around with it. The full download contains all code and graphics used in the program. Unfortunatly I have no camera and there is no way to take a video of the Zunes screen without one, this means that you will have to look at the pictures I provided above as proof of what this app looks like. Trust me, it is far more impressive on the Zune.

The link will take you to Zune Boards, which offers some of the best apps for the Zune. The downloads are located at the top of the page.

Google+ Has Games Now!

Did you hear? Google+ has games now. What's better about the games on Google than on Facebook is that game invites and the other stupid game related junk stay on a seperate feed than the normal status'. Meaning less spam on the front page and you never really have to ban apps from appearing. There's about 15 games on there now. Nothing exicting though, I'll show you guys how to get to it if you wanna try them out.

Easy huh? On the game's front page there is a "Featured" games spotlight that you know shows off the most awesome to the max games. Below the awesome to the max games spotlight section is the game status stream. Any thing from highscores to people giving uber exciting gift to one another will be posted there. On the left side there's a "All Games" tab which does exactly as it says, it shows you all the freaking games. I'll now post a screenshot of all games Google+ has to offer.
There's all of the non-exciting games that are being offered... wait a secound what's this? There's a 16th game, what is it? It can't be, but it is.
Oh my Baby Jesus! It's Angry Birds! Google+ is one of the greatist gaming platforms ever! It deserves the rating of 10/10. Screw my PS3, Angry Birds on Google+ is the way to go.

I just made this quick project. It was designed as a relatively simple debugger beyond the abilities of a normal debugger.

What is Game Maker console?

A simple game object that can be added to any room or any game. You can use GMconsole to create instances on the fly. Adjust object positions or execute any other scripts you may need to.

How does it work?

Simply. You can toggle the console by pressing Tab. Then just type in the script you want to execute and hit enter. It will then execute the script. You can also use GMC to create variables etc.

This is a very early version (I made it in an hour) so their may be a few problems. Make sure to tell me what you think so I can make changes and improvements.

You may Edit, Modify and Redistribute it as you wish.

Be Square - Pheonix

Be Square - Pheonix is the newest version of Be Square. It includes a fully functioning arcade mode, achievements and more.

Here are some screens from the game:
The Accolade Screen, bright achievements are unlocked. Click to display info about the achievement.

The Main Menu. Arcade, Accolades, Help and Quit are the only working buttons at the moment.

Arcade Mode. Survive as long as you can. Currently very, very easy.

NOTE: The background effect chews through my computers RAM like a dog eats a sirloin steak. I plan on optimizing the effect in later editions. However, if you experience lag and don't want to wait, I recommend closing other programs (web browsers, music, videos, other games etc.) that should make the game run more smoothly.

Download from MediaFire.

If you have any good ideas for achievements, power ups etc. Just drop a comment below.

Be Square - Tick Tack

A New Version of "Be Square" is ready. I added some AI so the Polygons will actually move now. It's still giving me some trouble so they don't shoot yet. That is coming though.

Features:
  • Move with WASD or Arrow Keys.
  • Left Mouse to Fire Bullets
  • Right Mouse to activate ingame store. (still looking for some suggestions for these, just comment below)
  • Pick up lines for credits
  • Basic AI and clustering (see the pictures)
  • Achievements (current demo does not show them)
  • Online Highscores (Current demo does not show them)
  • Minor Fixes from last time.
  • Smoothed animations.
I'm still having some trouble with the AI so that will be changed as the game progresses. I am also trying to figure out how levels will work. Will the polygons come from everywhere or will they come from a side of the screen? I haven't figured that out yet. As always, if you have suggestions, just drop your thoughts in a comment and click the "post comment" button.

Pictures: They are worth a thousand words.

You can download the new version here.

Oparok

Here is a quick screen of the second game I am working on. Someday I hope to turn it into a card game, but, at the moment, this is all I have.

The game will play a lot like risk in the later stages involving armies attacking one another and attempting to take over. However it features some things from games like Magic The Gathering as well.

The board is made up of resource tiles (seen above) that players place at the start of the game. This effectively creates the battlefield. When each player has placed their last resource they place their Armies Leader on that tile. All resources start uncontrolled and are taken over when a Leader or Army begins it's turn on it. After taking over lands the player receives resources (Steel, Crystal, Plasma and Credits) from all resources they control. They can use these to play Instant, Structure or Army cards on the battlefield. Using these they must defeat the enemy army, conquer more resources and eventually destroy the enemy.

As always suggestions are welcome.

NOTE: The art is not mine, my name there is simply a test. Art credit: coolvibe.com.

Be Square Basic Gameplay Demo

Here is the link to a fairly basic version of "Be Square" the SHMUP i'm working on for the 48 Hours contest I had a while back. I did all this today so don't get all, "but you can't do anything," on me.

  • Left mouse fires
  • Right mouse opens midgame store
  • Pick up lines to be able to spend them
  • Arrows move player (this will probably change to allow for WASD soon)

I hope to add achievements and buying stuff soon.
AI is right after that.

Test it now: http://www.mediafire.com/?8w9wu028shou0ku!

Make sure to tell me what you think. Suggestions are welcome.

The SHMUP So Far

Here is the story so far:

A lone circle is born. However, as he is the only one of his kind in a world of polygons he is outcast and forced to live by himself. Finally the circle decides to make himself square. He asks the squares to make him like them but they refuse and kick him out. Alone the circle comes up with a plan to make himself a polygon once and for all.

Getting ready for his transformation the circle cloned himself thousands of times (so he could always start over again). However, many of these clones came out to small. So, instead the circle uses them as bullet to destroy the polygons.

Destroying polygons though, is harder than it seems. Each mini-clone-bullet only manages to break off one side of the polygon. Thus to destroy the polygons the circle must blow off one side at a time until the polygon is nothing but boring lines.

The polygons are not to happy about being crushed into simple lines and fight back with their own polygon-clone-bullet-missile-laser-beamz. The circle must make it to the square maker machine in order to finally achieve his goal, but on the way, he must destroy all the polygons that stand in his way.

Control the Circle on his daring quest to become square!

Yup, this is going to be interesting...

Since I'm adding a story it might not be done by the time I actually get my PSU back. I'll be posting what I have though.

I'm also considering adding some Highscores + Achievements + Level Editor to make the game very interesting. Each NGon will have it's own AI and will act based on what is best for it. Triangles will try to move away from player, while hexagons and octagons will just rush towards the player.

Ding Ding

WOOL is the winner of the 48 Hours contest. Why, you ask. His/her idea was the most boring of them all. My point exactly. As proof of how uncreative you all are I am going to make a random SHMUP. Everyone that participated will receive a link to their site for being so incredibly boring that I almost fell asleep last night.

The game will be posted when I get my PSU back, hopefully some time this week.

Congrats WOOL and have fun with this game. I'll try to make it more entertaining than your suggestion (no promises).

Postal 2 Multiplayer Free

Go here. Nuff said.

Inkblots - What Do You See?

Sometimes, there are wrong answers.

More on Postal 3.

Postal 3 - Weapon Preview

If you have never played Postal then you are missing the most amazing, overly lethal game ever. The most ridiculous game since gaming began Postal 2 was perhaps the most fun and downright deadly games ever.

Here are some of weapons you might run into while playing the new Postal 3:
You can read more at the Postal 3 website.

If you have not bought or played Postal 2 yet then piss on some friends and buy the game.

You may also want to watch the Postal Movie.

Anyway, I look forward to playing the game soon and hope it's as good as Postal 2.

NOTE: this is not the same as the Postal Office TV shows etc. This is far better.

Ineisis Online

I have said a lot about the Esenthel Engine. Now the developer is creating a game with it called Ineisis Online. The game will be made using the Esenthel Engine and will hopefully show a lot of the possibilities of the engine.

Learn more about the game here: www.esenthel.com/community.

A playable version is to be released sometime in the next few weeks.

Rise of Immortals

Rise of Immortals is League of Legends except not. That pretty much describes it perfectly.

Currently in closed beta Rise of Immortals is a game not unlike Leageu of Legends. The basic strategy is the same. It has the same objective and same game play.

Their are however, some differences. First, you are able to have multiple champions that are the same on one team. You could have 5 of the same person on a single team!

Second, the main lobby is a cool little map of it's own. You can dance and talk with other people. It's all up to you.

Third, their are plenty of different chat rooms. Their are clan chat rooms, social chat rooms, group chat rooms etc. You can talk with whoever you want, whenever you want. This is a lot more convenient then the way you can chat with people in League of Legends.

Finally, their are more maps in Rise of Immortals. This seems odd to me since League of Legends has been around a lot longer. Rise of Immortals has 5 or 6 unique maps. You can play a 5v5, 4v4, 3v3, 2v2, 1v1 or 1vE.

If you are interested in joining the Rise of Immortals Closed Beta then just go here or check up on the forum to see what is going on with the game.

I suggest you check out the game if you have the time.

Some screens from the game.

Particle Field Prototype

I just spent the past five hours watching some Farscape and writing this game.

Particle Field Prototype is a quick prototype of the XBox game I am working on in C#. This should include many of the features that the planned game will have and may even share the same highscores (for current highscores see above or this site).

I would appreciate it if you checked out the game at Gamejolt and tell me what you think.

I'm still working on adding a background... and sound.

I take advice and feedback seriously so please don't hold back. I am especially interested in other abilities and particles that you want added.

Check out the game here. I'm interested in what you think.

Current Abilities:
 Grants extra points on use.
Holds particles in place for a short time.
 Pushes particles from your position.
Creates a vortex that draws all particles towards it.
Creates a shield around you that makes you immune to particles.

A New Champion Approaches

I don't know about you but this guy looks pretty awesome.

I think I'm going to have to buy him.

Here are his abilities:

Sear: Brand launches a ball of fire forward that deals magic damage. If the target is ablaze, the target will be stunned.

Pillar of Flame: After a short delay, Brand creates a pillar of flame at a target area, dealing magic damage to enemy units with the area. Units that are ablaze take additional damage.

Conflagration: Brand conjures a powerful blast at his target, dealing magic damage to them. If the target is ablaze, the conflagration spreads to nearby enemies.

Pyroclasm (Ultimate): Brand unleashes a devastating torrent of fire, dealing damage each time it bounces. If a target is ablaze, Pyroclasm's missile speed increases.

Blaze (Passive): Brand's basic abilities light his targets ablaze, dealing a percentage of their maximum Health in magic damage per second.

To learn more about him you can look at the League of Legends Spotlight here.

How can they make people that look that amazing no one is going to buy any skins for him.

Oh, wait, I almost forgot, his name is Brand. Brand, the Burning Vengeance. He looks like he might be Annie's brother. They both seem to enjoy fire.

Attack of the Red Spiders Resumes

That pretty much says it all. We are picking up work on the project again after months of doing little to nothing. If anyone has any suggestions then let me know in a comment.
