Why I Don't Want a Hydrogen Car

Allow me to explain why I don't want a hydrogen car. Their are plenty of reasons.

The first reason is that is is powered by Hydrogen. This is what the Hindenburg was full of. We also have a bomb that uses it. The Hydrogen Bomb.





The second reason is that we make a bomb out of it. Hydrogen is used in bombs. powerful bombs. Bombs that make sweat bangs and awesome bangs. Now imaging a car accident. Think of what happens when the compressed hydrogen rushes out and finds a spark. Now think of your life. Now consider your lack of it. You get the idea.

Finally the Hydrogen Car has "0 Emmisions" this is because the only emmision is the water from the reaction. The problem with this is that water freezes and driving on ice is hardly fun. Imagine thousands, even millions of cars in the middle of winter dripping water on a road. This would make the already bad condition of the roads worse and cause even more accidents then the already incompitent drivers cause.

This is what would happen if you drove your H powered car up a stick.

Another problem with the emissions is that the water will drop onto a very hot pavement. This pavement heats the water and then goes into the streams or lakes nearby. This runoff causes otherwise nice rivers to become barren of life that makes them what they are: nice fishing rivers.

While this is just my opinion on the cars and I must say I take a rather aggressive stance towards them. I must admit that they will have far less of an impact then the current gas powered versions though. And as long as you don't get into an accident or live in a cold climate they might be nice. But if you live in Canada or the Northern USA then I'm not sure I would buy a Hydrogen car.

Owning a Zune HD (Pro's and Con's)

I have owned my Zune HD for about three months now and thus feel it's time for a review. Here are the current Pro's and Con's I have found in the HD.

The Pros

• It's Not Made by Apple. This is a big one.
• It's Light. The Zune weighs less than the IPod.
• The interface is sleek and easy to use.
• The Zune Pass is perfect for us that listen to a lot of music.
• AudioSurf anyone? The Zune has it!
• Touch Screen. While this is pretty standard now this is really nice to have.
• Talk to your friends over Live from your Zune. Because being away for ten minutes is nine minutes to long.
• ZuneBoards gives you access to plenty of apps that Microsoft doesn't.
• Visual Boy Zune. Because who doesn't want to turn their handheld into a Gameboy Advance?
• Looks cool. Because looks may not be everything but they sure are great to have.
• Cheap. Well... at least relatively. A Zune 32GB costs about $200, an IPod 32GB costs about $275 while an Android costs about $300 + Service.
• Internet. Free internet wherever you can find a wireless network that doesn't have a password (AKA everywhere).
• HD Radio. I have never used the Radio of my Zune. After all most stations near me are a bunch of really bad pop and rap and some terrible "new age" rock (AKA Bullshit). I prefer to stick to my own music.
• Can stream HD video's to your TV. I have never used this either (It takes up space and you have to buy the cables by themselves). Anyway, the Zune itself can not render in HD so what is the point?
• Liberate from ZuneBoards allows you to get Windows Explorer on your Zune. What could be better?
• Cool and fun to use UI.
• All Zune Apps are free! Meaning you get all the apps you want for free.

The Cons

• Their are about two handfuls of apps total. This includes a facebook app, stopwatch and alarm clock (Yay!). On the other hand ZuneBoards is a backdoor into your Zune allowing you to run quiet a few more apps then Microsoft intended.
• The "backdoor" apps written in XNA cause your Zune to have to restart when you want to quit. This is not just a pause of music and a screen saver. This is a full reboot that takes about 30 seconds.
• Even with the ZuneBoards backdoor no app market exists and thus few developers are willing to spend their time working on Zune Apps.
• The Zune requires a special plugin for charging. This means that if you lose it you have to pay about $3 plus shipping to replace it.
• The Zune Screen is nearly impossible to read while in bright light.
• Their is no Volume control. You must press the side button and then look to make sure you aren't going to skip a song, pause it or just exit the menu. This can get annoying.
• Microsoft seems to have abandoned the Zune. When was the last time you heard anything about it from them?
• The Internet on the Zune is accessed by a slimmer version of Internet Explorer. Their are no tabs and the experience is not great.
• Long Song and Band names will not display. Microsoft has a great user interface however the text has a tendency to go off the screen. This is quiet annoying and means you may have no idea what the name of a certain song is or who is playing it.
• You need to install the Zune Software in order to use the Zune. This is NOT included in the box.
• To use custom apps you need to install about 200 megabytes of software.
• All Zune Apps are free... meaning that few programmers will produce games for it.

If I had the choice I would buy my Zune again the only thing is that it is not perfect. Their are, as the cons explain, plenty of problems with the Zune HD however it is a step in the right direction. When you buy a Zune you have to remember that you bought an MP3 player and not a Smart Phone.

I am going to go play some Visual Boy Zune Advanced Wars 2 right now. Until tomorrow.

I have zero skill in making things like this but I don't care. It looks fun so I figure now is a great time to spice things up. If I finish this it should make my dorm a lot cooler.

So You Want Some Cheap Gaming Supplies

I just happened to stumble upon this great site while I was looking for some Magic cards to pwn my friends with. Troll and Toad is a site that sells all most any type of gaming supply you could want. Some great board games (Monopoly, Risk), pen and paper games (Dungeons and Dragons, D20)as well as the normal card games (Magic, Pokemon).

Basically the site is for all of us nerds/geeks/exhiles of society that want a fun thing to fill the time were not spending on the interwebs or playing COD.

The reason I recommend Troll and Toad is simple. Price. I spent about $50 on cards that would have cost me $100's to buy elsewhere (say CardKingdom). This was rather nice.

Also the shipping is quiet reasonable (at least for cards). Shipping 99 cards will cost you a small amount of only 99 cents. Hardly a bad deal.

I highly suggest checking the site out. I doubt you will be disappointed.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

For those of you that have yet to find the meaning of life or those still in search of it I have found the book for you!

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is perhaps the most amusing book you will read in a long time. Set in a galaxy not so far away among two Z's and another one of plural origin the book begins spectacularly with an amazing double catastrophy as the main character must stand before a bulldozer to keep it from demolishing his house.

From here the story becomes more and more queer as the plot unravels into a very long, very odd story that leaves the main character stranded on a planet making sandwiches for a race of beings that survive off of perfectly normal beasts that leap across the planes in a fashion that is all but normal.

While the final books ending is hardly satisfying much of the Hitchhikers Guide is a must read.

I would also warn you that watching theMovie is hardly worth your time as Douglas Adams explains himself that the movie was designed to contradict the books with as much ease as the books contradict themselves (Wheather Douglas Adams was attempting to write a relgious text is unknown).

Endless Origami

I read a lot of web comics: xkcd, explosm and Endless Origami are just a few. These web comics are amazingly funny because unlike many comics they possess a true intelligence behind them (perhaps excluding explosm from that). xkcd is written by a programmer/physicist and Endless Origami by a college student. The comics their are always funny and will really crack you up while taking a look at what life is really like.

As you can see the comics are amusing and I assure you their are better ones out there. Endless Origami is updated almost daily with hilarious comics so make sure you subscribe to the RSS or set it as your homepage. You never know when you may need to laugh.

Run Multiple Operating Systems at Once

So you want to run Windows 7 and Ubuntu at the same time? No problem.

All you need is a disk of the operating system that you want and a copy of the free VMware Player. This allows you to run multiple Operating Systems at once by opening a window in the default (boot) OS and allowing you to have as many open as you wish.

Once you have installed your Virtual Machine on your computer you just need to start it up and stick your second Operating System's Disk or ISO in your drive. Then just setup the machine and your ready to go.

You can even customize how much RAM and Hard Drive space you want to donate to your Virtual Machines.

What this means is that you can easily switch Operating Systems without having to reboot your computer. It's easy to do and simple to understand.

It may also be a good idea to make a clean install of your default OS and use that to test new games and more that you download from the internet. A Virtual Machine is isolated from your computer and thus any virus that crashes your Virtual Machine will not harm your computer. Instead it will simply cause the program to become unresponsive and a simple ctrl+alt+del can fix that.

I Hate Blizzard

When Star Craft 2 came out I was excited. As many of you know The Brood War was perhaps one of the greatest game of year until Halo 3 and remained the best RTS until SC2... at least that was what I thought.

I preordered Star Craft 2 three months before the release because I really wanted the game. Really, really wanted the game. This was before I knew that Blizzard had turned evil.

Now that I have the game I have realized a few things:

1. Without an Internet Connection the game is terrible. The box even says "internet connection required" and while this isn't totally true (you  can play off line as a guest account and no progress is saved and no achievements are earned)
2. With an Internet Connection the game is slightly decent. You may think "Star Craft 2, thats a good game" and the answer is simply, no. While the game is fun to play, the mods are amusing and the campaign is good the game lacks many things that make it superb. First, you can't get achievements while you are disconnected from the internet and this does make sense, however Blizzard's servers tend to disable achievements every five seconds or less so their is really no point.
3. You need a Battle.Net account. For those of you that don't know Battle.Net is the most amusingly stupid service a company could think of. You may sign up for an account for free and place as much fake information as you want on it (Blizzard will not follow up) but if you ever want to change your name Good Luck. To change your name you need almost everything you don't have: The name of your baptizing priest, your birth certificate, a copy of your finger prints and a full DNA scan. This is completely pointless and is annoying as hell to get around.
4. You may only have one activated game... ever. I recently reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer and then tried to install Star Craft 2 again. That went fine and everything went pretty smooth, however when I tried to activate my game it said, in as polite a way as possible: "Fuck You". This is extremely annoying and should be taken as a word of caution to any of you that buy the game from ebay, don't.
5. Ever had a LAN of Star Craft or Warcraft 3? Well Blizzard didn't really think that you needed to do that, ever, in any more of it's games. Both Diablo 3 and Star Craft 2 have 0 LAN ability. Good luck having a LAN with another Blizzard game.

These are only a few of the reasons I hate Blizzard. I will not be buying Diablo 3 nor any other Blizzard game ever again. I used to think that EA was bad for it's Anti-Piracy BS but apparently Blizzard has taken the, "O NOES YOU HAVE DAEMON TOOLS INSTALLED YOU CANT PLAY ME" to a whole new level.

I think I'll stick to Torchlight rather then go to Diablo 3.

LOL! - League of Legends

We have all played or at least heard of DotA.

LoL is a game much like DotA only it has a few unique aspects:

• The Store is far easier to use
• Your character is always selected
• Creep and Towers may not be denied
• A new hero is added almost every week
• You can play ranked matches
• Runes and Masteries allow you to make your hero your own
• A 3v3 map is available as well as the normal 5v5

I have played LoL since August and have greatly enjoyed it. The game is fast paced and strategic, requiring a lot of thought and quick actions to gain kills and escape with your life.

Additionally new features have been added to prevent users from abandoning games that they are losing and Riot has made it easy to report abuse by players who feed or leave games.

DDO - Dungeons and Dragons Online

I just started playing DDO and am wondering if any of you guys play it. If so I am playing a Elf Ranger and am looking for some people to play with. If you have not played or heard of the game DDO takes D&D to a whole new level by placing what they managed to do in Neverwinter Nights in a MMO.

The game, so far, has been superb with DX11, plenty of players and a good number of quests. The game is free to play so come on and join us. If you are a fan of D&D then you will probably enjoy this game as well, it even includes it's own menacing DM.

Not all Email's are Boring

Make Money Reviewing Music

I have recently found a new site. The site is called Slice The Pie and is a site that pays you to review songs. These songs are independently created by artists and submitted to the site. You earn money based on the quality of reviews you write. At the beginning you earn only about 2 cents a song making it hardly worth the time. However, this amount increases over time to a maximum of 20 cents a song making this slightly worth it and, if your going to listen to music anyway, you might as well get paid for it.

 

This seems like a good idea doesn't it? Money for listening to music, seems legit to.
